I have begun to finalise my project and create my presentation, here I will document the process and intention for my presentation and in turn exhibition idea and final set.
To begin the presentation I aim to explain my projects themes and intentions when reaching a viewer, raising questions about what makes a memory and why we choose to capture specific things and not others.
Because this project is very specific to me and my individual memories it poses a task of making these images thought provoking and intriguing to a wider audience. I will do this by my choice in presentation for the exhibition and the narrative the positioning and order of my images brings to the table.
I will then discuss my inspiration for my project, including visual and theoretical work. I will also examine my progress so far, using disposable, analogue and digital photography in the creation of my final 12 images.
Next, I will talk about audience expectation, in particular, why you should care about my project. Exploring the notion of discussion points and reflective interpretations of my exhibition, allowing the audience to see themselves and their memories in my images.
Then I will reveal my 12 selected photographs, which I will discuss in more detail in a following blog post to support the conclusion of my project. Each of these photographs are important to me and follow a narrative of experiencing more conventional memories and the type of photographs usually seen taken with analogue and disposable cameras. Starting off with an image taken on Zoom to finishing with an image taken at the pub.
After this I will discuss my exhibition space and reasonings for choosing such space. Then move onto the floor plan and how I want my images to look in the exhibition space, how they will reveal a narrative and make my audience raise questions about memory practice and display.
In this segment I will detail the specific features I'd like to include in my exhibition, including the scale and finish of each photo as well as the narrative progression and use of dip/triptychs.
I will then round off my ideas and conclude the presentation.
KEY SLIDES FROM MY PRESENTATION
REFLECTIVE NOTES AFTER PRESENTATION
This was a very new experience for me, I have never really had the opportunity to pitch my project and visualise what it would look like in an exhibition. I enjoyed rounding up my ideas and exploring contemporary art in the exhibition process, pushing the boundaries and pitching a visually interesting art space. I thought I liked my reasonings for the chosen gallery space well back to my project, discussing the contemporary style, local talent and light and polished exhibition space.
I felt that I spoke with confidence and passion about my project and exhibition ideas, which is something that I really wanted to focus on.
