In the lead up for the second workshop I took a disposable camera out and about to see what kind of images I could capture. I took images in a range of different environments both indoors and outdoors, in different climates from sunny days, foggier skies and even a snow day. I utilised the flash often, especially during the night time as the camera didn't have a high ISO.

Because I'm not used to shooting with a disposable and usually use a DSLR where what you see in the viewfinder is exactly what you'll capture within the frame, I accidentally captured my finger on some of the photos. I found that during the night times my images appeared more cool toned, which is conventional of these disposable cameras, especially when teens use them as often they are used indoors with a flash during parities or gatherings.

Despite the simplicity of the camera, it was still able to capture the white tones of the snow clearly without completely over exposing it. I tried a variety of different shots during the snow shoot to test the camera's ability, with some that have a lot of movement. As expected the camera didn't work too well with the movement, and the images are a bit blurrier but I liked how it captured to moment in time and the movement rather then a freeze frame.

It was really interesting to see how the camera worked in different environments, what different tones and colours were created depending on the amount of light let into the lens. I think my favourite tones were from the ones in a park during a sunny day, I like how warm the picture is and how vibrant the colours within the frame are.

I think for my next shoot I will take the camera out in more vibrant situations where the sun is shining more and capture more images in that setting. My subjects will be both nature and people.

I sent my film off externally to be developed by a studio in Bristol called Photographie. www.photographie.co.uk
