Just a documentation of my random first thoughts and ideas after the first lecture on 26th January 2021.

For both of my ideas I have weighed up the pros and cons to each project to help me inform my decision.
Photography as a Moment in Time
This concept involved working with both digital and analogue photography to capture moments in time. Focusing on the idea of 'a photography tells a million words'. Film photography is more organic, authentic and usually unedited, raw! Whereas digital photography controls the outcome of the image usually and is more than likely edited, in much detail.
Pros: Cons:
- fun, experimental project - I'm not very experienced in film
- interesting investigation to improve my - longer waiting period for images
analogue photography skills - continuity cost - capturing the 'real' more exclusively with film - more forgiving in terms of exposure problems and minor mistakes

Exploring the Aesthetics of Photography
For this idea I want to focus on exploring different aesthetics in photography (subject, composition, colour, texture, light etc.) It'll also be a fun way of exploring film photography, and perhaps black and white imagery. Another aspect may be exploring 'beauty' in photography, or the lack of. I am also interested in investigating photography in different formats such as social media, large scales and different industries. As well as more post-production elements such as mixed media, collaging, moving image etc.
Pros: Cons:
- fun, experimental project - quite a broad topic to investigate (specialise) - interesting to learn the theory behind - could become repetitive with research each aesthetic - project may not be cohesive - establish my own aesthetic through the research? - explore my cameras more - conventions and challenging them
I have arranged a meeting with my supervisor to discuss my ideas in more detail and get guidance on what steps to take next.
