Some different and more specific ideas that have stemmed from my meeting with my supervisor.

Photography Aesthetics
Fine Art Route?...
This concept involves investigating the fundamentals of photography. Deconstructing the different visual components that make up a photography (line, shape, form, texture, pattern, colour and space). Here, I'd focus more on playing with the camera (as well as being specific with the film I choose to use). The idea focuses on lomography, so I need to have a deeper look into what this means and includes within photography.
My concern is that this option needs more reason as to why I'm choosing to explore it, and at this point, I cannot determine that.

The Social Cultural Route?...
Exploring why young people are so obsessed with older technologies (disposables and analogue cameras). Why analogue photography is still so present in the photography business despite all the advancements in digital technology growing so rapidly. Here, I'd focus more on the teen aesthetic and why they're so interested by the retro and vintage style. Perhaps this is the desire to reclaim authenticity, however this is contradicted by the filters and edits that are applied to create the 'disposable' look. Perhaps the idea is linked to memory or nostalgia, photography is always in the past.
I'd like to do a little bit more research into this topic as I find it interesting that teens are so often seen using disposable cameras across their social media platforms.
Linking the Two
This approach would link memory and time and make it more experimental, including cultural aspects as in the second idea and creating fun experimental visuals with a range of photographic material.
The Colour Wheel?...
This idea follows the more fine art approach, but is more specific in what I'd be exploring. I've always been intrigued by the use of colour in art, not just in photography and how it changes over the years. I have been advised to look into artists of the 60s and 70s and see how they use colour in their photos (specifically: Joel Meyerowitz, Ed van der Elsken, Mitch, Epstien, William Eggleston etc.)
This project could be interesting as it would allow me to explore how colour is controlled, especially in analogue. Although this may come with a struggle as because of the current circumstances, I'm not currently able to develop film myself and have to depend on the labs to take creative control. Some artists scan their negatives and digitally adjust the colour, however this isn't the true reality of their images. Also, different film stock create different colours and tone, which is something that I'd like to experiment with.
I'm going to moodboard some images to visualise my ideas as decide on which idea I intend on exploring and researching deeper into.
